Zamarstynivskyi Park
Zamarstynivskyi Park (formerly known as Holoskivskyi Park) is a landmark piece of the city’s green infrastructure that had long been waiting for renewal. It appeared under this name in the city’s 1960s–70s general plan, but over time gradually lost ground to development and was in need of transformation.
The project was developed together with “Group 109”. Its main goal is to bring the park back to life through minimal intervention, focused on preserving the natural identity of the space. The total area of the reconstructed territory is 5.3 hectares; design work took place in 2017. The team included Oksana Lutsko, Nazar Kobiletskyi, Marko Shmanko, Olia Sokha, as well as Solomiia Halaiko, Katia Yasenchuk, Maksym Asafatov, Natalia Mysak, Volodymyr Palii, and Markiian Maksymiuk. SHEREMETA Architect Group served as a partner on the project.
The project is currently in the implementation stage, overseen by Olia Kryvoruchko and her bureau, Urban Ideas, on their own initiative. Zamarstynivskyi Park is also set to become the main recreational space for the Unbroken rehabilitation system, which borders the park.
The implementation concept, developed as part of Lviv’s participatory budget, was prepared by members of the local community: Nazar Kobiletskyi, Marko Shmanko, Olia Sokha, together with activists Oksana Lutsko and Olena Oliinyk. It was their team that secured broad support for the proposal, which went on to win the district-level participatory budget competition. However, the initial concept was fairly provisional and did not account for a number of important factors. That’s why we were brought in to develop a detailed design. We carried out a series of in-depth research and interviews, and on the basis of this updated data and the community’s input, developed the current design solutions.
